I always enjoy watching and photographing the opera’s directed by Michelle Hendrick. This production is at The Academy Of Music in Northampton MA. I had never been in there, the theater is beautiful, as is the costuming, direction, casting, dancing and singing in this production of La Traviatta.
I love everything about getting to photograph opera’s. I love being in the theater while it is still empty, I love the challenge of photographing singers and dancers in motion. I have to try to anticipate where they will be moving next to get the very best images possible, while dodging empty theater chairs and cords and props and people… It always brings me back to my days as a performance major. I love the energy and I feel very honored each and every time I am asked to photograph like this.
This incredible cast can be seen performing La Traviata at the Academy Of Music this Friday at 7:30 and Sunday at 2:00.
