For me when I think about the definition above I think of a hot cup of tea at the end of a long day, or a cup of tea when I am cold. I think of a bath, or a shower. I think of the amazing freedom in floating in a lake or still river or calm ocean. I think of the calm that takes over when sitting by a waterfall and feeling the spray hit my face. Two more rolls of underwater film were delivered in the mail. It really is a treat to shoot film and have the negatives and scans come back. The waiting, the not knowing what will be there in the images…. Especially since these are shot with a range finder camera. And underwater where I can’t really see! So I actually have no idea what the images will look like when I take the photos! So unlike the instant see and edit of digital photography. These are the last two rolls of underwater I shot at the pool. I actually took the Nikonos to the beach last week, so I do have one more roll of water photos to see… one day… when I send the roll out and wait for it to come back. Two Simple Summer Weekend Hikes
We went on two simple summer hikes this weekend. Both along tributaries of the Farmington River here in CT. We have always tried to live simply, and to enjoy the beauty and freedom found out in nature. This summer we have not gotten to leave CT for various reasons, and so the fact that we have already cultivated this love of nature, love of simple pleasures in ourselves and our children has really paid off. Just as we discover frogs on the path, and dragonflies over the lake and tiny fish in the river. Salamanders under rocks, tiny toads under leaves…. looking below the surface of things, looking at the simple beauty and natural playground that nature provides… Looking below the surface, looking at simplicity of daily life….. It all reveals meaning. We headed out on Saturday afternoon, and Sunday evening this weekend. These are some of my favorite moments.…
