October in New England can be breathtakingly beautiful. The colors in the trees! The bright red and yellow and orange! The crisp cool air and the blue sky are all just so amazing! We love picking apples and taking them home to make homemade apple sauce. The whole
house fills up with the warmth of the cooking apples and the heavenly scent of apples and honey and cinnamon. But the days also shorten and the temperatures drop and it just turns to autumn. But sometimes we also get 80 degree days, and that means Indian Summer! I love summer, and all that goes along with it. So a tiny part of my always mourns the end of the days playing in the lakes and streams around our house, the trips to the beach. This weekend is one of those golden Indian Summer moments here in Connecticut. So we took advantage of it and headed out to the river. Two days in a row! What a blessing!
