I met Adora in the steam room at the Hampshire Y.  She was singing away in the steam room, and we got to talking about life and art and milk baths… She mentioned her art salons, and that was that, I was down to capture some images from the live drawing salon Adora hosted at her house this past Sunday. There I met Hilary, the magical dancer/spiritual guide/model.  I will link to her business at the bottom of this page. It takes a lot of courage and strength to put yourself out there like she did at this month’s artist salon. To dance and smile and pose and teach with all eyes on her… Really quite amazing to witness this authentic and powerful female spirit All of my images were created with either the Lensbaby Velvet 56 or the Lensbaby Creative Bokeh Optic lenses. These images glow with magic from…

Last year, Lili Love and I did a cooperative project called Feathered.  This year we started on a new project called Seven Rainbows where we plan to trip through the colors of the rainbow seven times.  Red, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet and then a special full rainbow post. This was also supposed to be a 52 week project, but life got in the way for both of us and we took a little seven month break from our Seven Rainbow Project. We are back and going strong! This is a look at our second trip through the rainbow, I will put links at the bottom where you can follow along on our Facebook page, and where you can see our first rainbow post on the blog. Thank you for checking out our special little colorful project!  ~~Seven Rainbows, Week Nine (Red2)~~ “And above all, watch with glittering eyes…

The Wish You Were Here project is on it’s fifth consecutive year! A group of woman photographers from around our beautiful globe each post one image a week, and we are now on our fifth year! What an amazing accomplishment! The image above is my image from Week Two, Year Five… It has been COLD here in New England this winter.  Last weekend we went to the Smith Botanical Garden in search of some warmth and cheer.  We found it in the warm greenhouse full of beautiful plants, shimmering water and warm air full of good oxygen.  I went in with my Lensbaby Velvet 56.  I chose the image above to represent our trip, but I wanted to show what else I saw in the greenhouses.  The Smith College Botanical Garden is truly a treasure for this community, in the summer the gardens outside are also bursting with life.  It…

Blow, blow, thou winter windThou art not so unkindAs man’s ingratitude; Thy tooth is not so keen, Because thou art not seen, Although thy breath be rude. Lensbaby Velvet 56, Christmas Day 2017 Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly: Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly: Then heigh-ho, the holly! This life is most jolly. Lensbaby Velvet 56, Christmas Day 2017 Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky, That does not bite so nighAs benefits forgot: Though thou the waters warp, Thy sting is not so sharpAs a friend remembered not. Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly: Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly: Then heigh-ho, the holly! This life is most jolly.  Lensbaby Velvet 56, Christmas Day 2017 ~Blow, Blow, Thou Winter WindWilliam Shakespeare

There are many quietly beautiful things to do this time of the year.  One of which is Christmas By Candlelight at Old Sturbridge Village is one of them. The crackle of the bonfire, the sent of smoke filling the air. The beautiful sounds of song and the gentle stomping of the giant horses pulling the wooden wagons…. The crisp cold air and the gently falling snow  just added to the perfection. This year we met friends at Old Sturbridge Village for the beautiful Christmas By Candlelight. Just before we were leaving a new lens was delivered to my door! So I set out with my brand new Lensbaby Creative Bokeh Optic, cold weather and low light was not on my side… but I wanted to capture the magic and beauty of Old Sturbridge Village draped in tiny twinkly lights and lit candles with this creative tool.   This is how I…

Last weekend we headed out to Ashfield MA to go to the Ashfield Winter Festival and to pick out and cut down our Christmas Tree! I love getting to do this every year, I think, (no!  I Know!!) I am the most excited person in the family on Christmas Tree Day!  This year I headed out with just my Lensbaby Twist 60 since I had not used it in a little while.  We had a fun day, first hanging out in Ashfield, and then hiking up a muddy mountain side with a saw in hand… and finally cutting down, bringing home, and decorating our tree. Here are the Lensbaby results!  Horses, tea and scones on a cold wither day…. what could be better? We had to stop in here to see all of the beautiful crafts~  We LOVED this tree farm. But it was too muddy and slippery to hike…

This was the definition of a Blustery Day In The Hundred Acre Woods for sure!  It was WINDY, it was COLD and the park we were shooting in was closed, but I knew this family would not miss our adventure photo shoot! I first met Sylvie while she was in the parent/child Pups program at Two Coyotes, she is now a Wild Seed, so these are wilderness people and the shoot must go on! We had so much fun on our adventure.  We parked at the bottom of the HUGE hill, and climbed up it while being buffeted about by something like 50 mile an hour winds! Sylvie was twirling and spinning and loving the wind! Magic things happen when we allow ourselves to be at one with nature, we were in a little bubble of calm, while we played in the woods and on the mossy rocks and by the pond… …

Today I led a class at Capitol Community College. I chose one of my absolutely favorite, creativity freeing, activities to do with the students in the Early Childhood Department. My class on drawing with your non dominant hand  is so fun and so freeing. When you allow yourself the freedom to let of of perfection, and get your groove on, you might actually achieve perfection. If not perfection, then at least, all consuming happiness. I love teaching my creativity classes, freeing your creativity leads to all kinds of positive changes in our emotional selves. These young adults were amazing at overcoming the fear and resistance that often comes at the start of this activity and dove right into the joy… I loved my day with these amazing students!  These young adults were only allowed to use the materials that would be available to them in the classrooms the they will one…

I seriously never thought I would find myself obsessed with photographing flowers, but with the Velvet 56, I really am!  Flowers and the Velvet 56 lens from Lensbaby just go together like peanut butter and jelly.  I can’t stop myself….

Wild Daughters by Phyllis Meredith Wild Daughters was inspired by my own deep, inner knowing that we are part of nature; the trees are in our lungs, the rivers flow through our veins. Who we are at our core is reflected in the dappled sunlight on the forest floor, the in mud oozing between our toes, the brilliance of the river rushing over stone, the papery bark of a birch tree. There is a strong movement these days to “get back to nature”. We have found a true correlation between time spent in nature and stronger mental and physical health. What I think we are missing is that fact that we do not just need to “go out into nature” we need to reconnect with the fact that *we are nature*. We are just as much a part of nature as the deer, the rivers, the trees… With the growing awareness…
