I was really brave and went to Paris…. alone. I have never flown alone and I speak basically no French. So to be honest, I was terrified to go! Chloe Lodge kindly agreed to rent an AirBnB with me, which was extremely kind, and made my final decision to actually get on the plane a bit easier. But, truthful, I was terrified! By the end I was taking the Metro alone, walking to and from our apartment alone and had enough French to make my way through buying bread at the pâtisserie alone. I have to say, I am quiet proud of myself. I was so excited to meet everyone, especially Lili who I have worked with for years, spoken to on the phone, texted constantly, done two personal projects together, but whom I had never met! I was actually afraid she would not be there like with the Griffin…

The Wish You Were Here exhibition opens October first at the Speos Gallery in Paris! Yes Paris! It is every artists dream to be in an exhibition in Paris, so I decided to pack my things and go. I will help hang the exhibition on September 30, and stay through the week with some of the amazing woman photographers in the WYWH project. Week 26, First Trip To The River This Summer, Vermont I have to say that I am quite nervous. Nervous to fly alone, nervous to find my way from the airport to the AirBnB that I will be sharing with Chloe Lodge, nervous to leave all that I do here at home for Chris to deal with, my list of fears goes on and on….. I can’t wait to be there, but the journey seems very anxiety producing. And though I have never flown alone, nor can…

Go on out and climb a tree…. A cherry tree! Sour Cherries make the best preserves. The preserves end up a lovely sweet/tart flavor, and you get to have the benefits of sour cherries all year long! This year Meadow Rain and I went to Bashista Orchards in Southampton MA. We went on opening day, even though it was raining on and off with distant thunder sounding rather ominous. Samascott orchards is another great place to pick your own sour cherries in upstate NY. Picking sour cherries can be a tricky thing, they fruit for just s few weeks around the fourth of July. Some orchards open pick your own one day… and literally have no cherries left the next day, so you have to watch the orchards, and go as soon as you can! We never rush through these outings, we prefer to really enjoy our time and pick…

The Wish You Were Here Project holds such an amazing part of my heart. This project is going strong in the middle of our sixth year. We are a group of female photographers from all over the world who met through mutual workshops and friendships. Each week we submit an image that we feel represents our week. Then we blog the images, with each image flowing into the next. The connections can be subtle or obvious, but we always aim for a flow from one image to the next. It is the highlight of my week to see what is happening in the lives and homes of this collection of talented woman photographers! Week 01- Another Binary Birthday, Masachusetts This year we are having a group exhibition in Paris, as well as a workshop! Our exhibition will open on October 1 at the Spéos Institute of Photography, 8 rue Jules…

I am sorry, I may lose some people with this post, but sometimes we have to face some real issues. Lets pause to discuss a tough subject that really means a lot to me this Earth Day. Then lets all try to make some real changes in the year(s) going forward! The earth can no longer afford to fund our throw away culture. (All images are composed and created with vintage cameras, medium format film with no use of computers, it’s how I strive to create my HumanNature images, simply, tangibly with analog) If these issues are already overwhelming for you, or you feel you are already doing your best and don’t want more nagging, just scroll on! I first began creating my HumanNature images because I was looking for a way to physically express something that I already knew. That we are just as much a part of nature…

I was just going to blog a client session this morning, but decided that is not what is needed today. I know the world has gotten rather frenetic these days for many of us. I feel like We don’t know how to slow down and just be anymore. It is so hard to find the time to unplug when text messages and emails and other push notifications make our phones ding and clatter at any moment. This has started to effect us all. We listen to books as we drive, we scan our email while waiting in line at one of the 2 or 4 different grocery stores on our weekly rotation, we eat lunch while blogging… I find things like handcrafts to be so centering. I still have to be mindful and tell myself I do deserve an hour or two away from my phone. And that can be…

I am not going to lie, I had a very hard time switching from film to digital photography. In the beginning, what, like 18 years ago? I felt like film was dead and I had to switch to digital. The images were too sharp, too contrasty, digital photography relied too heavenly on the computer, and I had no idea how to use Photoshop or Lightroom, if Lightroom was even an option back then. Before the switch over I was shooting everything from weddings to family sessions with my trusty N90. I loved that camera so much! It was a big step up from the Nikon F2 and the Pentax K 1000 that I had previously been using. I took it to Hawaii and Costa Rica! I did family sessions in rivers, I photographed the kids I was a nanny for. I also used to shoot medium and large format portraits…

Photographer Lili Love and I started The Seven Rainbows project on 2/24/2017! We were planning on doing the seven rainbow posts over the course of one year, 52 images posted once a week for one year. Seven times around the rainbow, each week focusing on one color with a blog post at the end of each rainbow. We have just completed rainbow #5, 2 years and 5 days later. Things in nature take their time to bloom, and so goes this project. We have two more rainbows to go after this one, which I feel we will finish in our own good time! I hope you enjoy this 5th trip through the rainbow! Below each diptych I have typed which image belongs to Phyllis Meredith Photography and which belongs to Lili Love Photography.  Thank you for looking, and happy rainbow filled days to you all! ~~Seven Rainbows, Thirty Three (Red5)~~ We must begin…

A day, 24 hours, a few photos (since I was experiencing the day, not just photographing…) So much that you can’t see here. You can’t see what a great co pilot Meadow is. She makes custom DJ playlists full of Queen and 80’s hits with little gems from now mixed in. You can’t see how well she handles my (insane) anxiety when driving across bridges. My hands and legs literally go numb and I have to talk myself through all bridge crossings. Meadow tells me I am doing great and to just look at the cars and not up or to the left or right. You can’t see the little bagel shop where we had a late lunch, or the stop at Pepe’s for pizza at 9pm for dinner. We have to drive out of NYC to get pizza lol! But you can see a few cool images from the…
