We went on two simple summer hikes this weekend. Both along tributaries of the Farmington River here in CT.
We have always tried to live simply, and to enjoy the beauty and freedom found out in nature. This summer we have not gotten to leave CT for various reasons, and so the fact that we have already cultivated this love of nature, love of simple pleasures in ourselves and our children has really paid off.
Just as we discover frogs on the path, and
dragonflies over the lake and tiny fish in the river. Salamanders under rocks, tiny toads under leaves.... looking below the surface of things, looking at the simple beauty and natural playground that nature provides... Looking below the surface, looking at simplicity of daily life..... It all reveals meaning.
We headed out on Saturday
afternoon, and Sunday evening this weekend. These are some of my favorite moments.
Meadow in the lake in a dress, Meadow in the river in a dress.... Caleb the budding photographer always with our old camera around his neck, the big frog and the tiny toad........
